We include the Schwarzwald with the tiniest of misgivings. Though the region is very much on the beaten track, there are two towns, Freiburg and Baden-Baden, that shouldn't be missed. Another big plus is the wine of Baden-W¸rttemburg, particularly the reds, which are largely underrated and unknown.
