We get most of our business from the Internet. Many customers find out about us on the hugely popular travel forums run by Rick Steves, TripAdvisor, Frommer’s and Fodor’s. So you can be sure we won’t let you down if for no other reason than we simply can’t afford to have unfavorable posts on these forums. Here’s a sampling of what a few of our customers are saying about us:

In reading this forum I note many problems which could have been avoided by booking via a real live person who knows and can explain all the possible extra charges and pitfalls of European car rental. For years we've stayed out of trouble by booking through Andy at Gemut.com. His rates are consistently either the lowest or very competitive. — Posted by Guy

We rented a car for a week in Germany through Gemut.com. Bob Bestor and his crew are nothing short of fantastic! Not only did I get a rate that was 30% less than what I could get from other vendors but also got tremendous support is dealing with an overcharge from Avis we found on our CC after returning. Bob provided great counsel on the best way to handle the claim and made sure we understood all the deadlines for recovering the erroneous charges. We will definitely use Gemut for our Europe rentals in the future. — Posted by Steve P.

I have used Gemut.com that Steve mentioned several times and can highly recommend them. When you go to the link he mentioned you can find answers to a lot of your questions. You can also call them for assistance. — Posted by Lane

I agree—Gemut.com is the best! We've used them for 4-5 trips and never had a problem. Our first experience was back in 1991 with the owner, Bob Bestor. For our last trip (pick-up in Frankfurt, drop-off in Paris) his son, Andy, handled everything. (We picked up at an off-airport site (took a taxi) and saved $$$.)

Two things we love about Gemut are 1) You can book and cancel later with no charge; and 2) They will price match. Find another deal anywhere on the web, send them the info, and they will match it. — Posted by Linda

My wife and I used them in June 2004. I cannot sing their praises enough. They got us the best rate quoted in U.S. dollars and after our trip they got us a refund for an overcharge made by the auto rental company. They are available when you need them and their customer service is second to none in my opinion. You can email or call them. I did both and they responded to my emails quickly and received my phone calls and were most helpful. I would not hesitate to use them if I were you. — Posted by fanotravel

I did a search of this forum and found six positive comments about Gemut.com.

There has been an interesting development. We had a rental car reservation with XXXXXX for $457. Gemut.com offered us a rate of $244 for essentially the same thing. When we called XXXXXX to cancel, they said they wanted to compete for our reservation and offered us a rate of $257 for essentially the same thing. These were all 5 passenger, 4 door cars.

And Gemut.com says in print that they guarantee the lowest rates and will beat them upon confirmation. — Posted by Spirit

Check Gemut.com. I have used them before and give them a very high recommendation. They have a nice website and to go one step further you could call Andrew Bestor with Gemut. They will guarantee your rates in U.S. dollars and hold it for you. Excellent customer service and rates. — Posted by fanotravel

Fodors.com Forum

I have used Gemut.com several times and I always felt like I got a good deal. One thing to consider is the surtax put on rental cars from airports and train stations in Germany. The people at Gemut.com should be able to set up a rental that is about a 10 min taxi ride from the Munich airport that will save you 19%. — Posted by AisleSeat

I also agree that you should check with Bob Bestor at Gemut.com (phone number is on their website). They are great about explaining rates and working with you to get you the best available rate for your car class. — Posted by BettyK

Frommers.com Forum

Check out "Gemut.com,” this will give you the best rates available in Germany. I have no interest in this company but always rent through them when I am in Germany. Andy will answer you questions and get you a good rate. (They only rent with the big rental agencies like Avis, Hertz, Auto Europe and Sixt). — Posted by Manfred

I second the recommendation to rent through the Gemütlichkeit Newsletter people - Gemut.com or 800-521-6722 (they are based in Ashland, OR). Very helpful and knowledgeable also about routes, hotels, restaurants and sights to see. Andy Bestor is very good. — Posted by Marsandro

I'd strongly suggest you rent your car ahead of time from Gemut.com. I have used them many times, as have my friends. They use Auto Europe or other renters to get the best deal available. They have other travel services as well. You pay in the US in dollars and are guaranteed a US dollar rate. You can cancel or change without penalty. — Posted by Intexa2
